Control systems for lighting
There are a variety of control systems for lighting. This overview shows the possible control protocols and buses, their wiring scheme and what is required with Loxone with the assumption that dimming is to be implemented.
Control | Loxone connection | Standard | Channels | Wiring scheme | Notes |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
0-10V | Analog outputs | N/A | 1 channel per 0-10v output. | N/A | Given the limited number of analog outputs is not suitable for larger installations. |
Loxone Extension | Loxone Extension Bus | Proprietary | Maximum number of Loxone extensions is not defined. | Linear bus | There is only one device, the Loxone Dimmer Extension. 240v output only. Recommended for retrofitting only. |
Loxone Air | Miniserver Go or Loxone Air Extension | Proprietary | Maximum of 128 Air device channels. | Wireless |
|
Loxone Tree | Loxone Tree Extension | Proprietary | Maximum of 50 devices per tree branch. | Star & Linear bus (mixed) | RGBW dimmer for Loxone Tree is under development (December 2016). |
DMX | Loxone DMX Extension | Third party | Standard: 512 channels (Loxone restriction: 128 channels) | Linear bus | Standard for stage lighting technology. Wide range of dimmers and components available. |
DALI | Loxone DALI Extension | Third party | 64 channels | Star & Linear bus (mixed) | Standard for building light technology. |
KNX | Miniserver KNX interface | Third party | Theoretically 61455 participants once their channels | Star & Linear bus (mixed) | Standard for building automation. |
Wireless | Depending on the terminal: Virtual outputs, PicoC | No standard, per device | Specific device, each device requires an IP in the LAN | Wireless | No standard - each device uses its own protocol. Log must be known. Not recommended for basic lighting, since no standard |
LED Luminaires
The German space of this Wiki has a list of spots, panels, LED strips, etc. Given those pages are mainly just listings it seems wasteful to duplicate here in English. See:
